Recording and Reporting an Accident

accidentsIf a child receives an injury while at the Centre, the staff member present will:

  • Immediately tend to the child's injury (i.e. apply ice, BandAid, etc.)
  • Fill out an “Accident Report” which is to be signed by the staff member and parent.

Once the Accident Report is signed, it will be filed in the child's file.

Should a child receive a serious injury in need of medical attention, the Supervisor and the parent are to be notified immediately. If the parent cannot be reached, the child will be transported to the hospital by ambulance along with the Supervisor, or a staff member.

The Supervisor will complete a “Serious Occurrence Report”, within 24 hours, notifying the Toronto Children's Services Child Care Consultant.
